Most fire protection marketing works by implication: a standard's name appears on a brochure, and the reader is left to assume certification. We think that habit is exactly backwards for a performance-based technology, so this page does the opposite — it states precisely where Mistelix stands against EN 14972 today, including everything that is not finished.

What EN 14972 asks of a manufacturer

EN 14972-1:2020 and its companion parts define a complete evidence chain: full-scale fire testing against the application-specific protocols of Parts 2–17, component testing to the EN 17450 series, and a DIOM manual — Design, Installation, Operation and Maintenance — that records what those tests demonstrated and becomes the binding design basis for every installation. We explain the framework in detail in EN 14972 Explained.

Where we stand, requirement by requirement

Designed in today. Our systems are engineered to Part 1's requirements from the first drawing: corrosion-resistant stainless steel components with no black-iron parts anywhere in the flow path, duplex strainers ahead of pump suction, filtration protecting sub-millimetre nozzle orifices, hydraulic calculations by the methods the standard recognises, and 1.5× hydrostatic testing of pressure-retaining components. Our published system specifications and pipework specification follow the same rules.

In progress. Our DIOM manual is being assembled to EN 14972-1's structure — nozzle data, spacing and height limits, obstruction rules, water supply duration, commissioning and maintenance schedules. It will be completed the way the standard demands: populated from test evidence rather than published ahead of it.

Scheduled. Full-scale fire testing to the EN 14972 series at an accredited laboratory. Our priority protocols follow our applications: machinery enclosures (Part 9) and cable tunnels (Part 11 — see our analysis of its pass criteria). For road tunnel FFFS, where the EN 14972 series does not yet carry a dedicated protocol, Annex A of Part 1 defines the route we intend to follow: a project-specific test method developed with the laboratory and the authority having jurisdiction.

Not claimed. Mistelix holds no EN 14972 test certificate today, and nothing on this site will imply otherwise. Our approvals ledger carries the live status of every standard we work against — NFPA 750, NFPA 33, EN 14972, DRDO-CFEES/TAC and FM 5560 — and is updated the moment a status changes.

Why we publish this

A tender reviewer will eventually ask for the documentation chain anyway: fire test reports, component test reports, DIOM. Publishing our position early costs us nothing but bluff — and it gives consultants and project engineers a truthful baseline to plan against, including realistic timelines for projects that require tested systems versus projects where designed-to-standard systems with third-party review are acceptable.
